Srinagar, Jul 17 (KNO): In a landmark initiative, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday ordered the establishment of the Sainik Sahayta Kendra to facilitate the redressal of civilian grievances faced by soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces posted in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, as well as those who belong to J&K but are currently serving in other parts of the country. This marks the first such institutional mechanism in J&K dedicated to addressing the civilian grievances of soldiers. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the administration today launched the LG’s Sainik Sahayta Kendra—also known as the Soldiers Assistance and Liaison Cell—which will operate from the premises of the Civil Secretariat with immediate effect. The Kendra will function as a single-window platform for receiving, assessing, and facilitating the redressal of grievances submitted by serving soldiers. It will also coordinate appointments for soldiers (or their representatives) with the relevant civil or police officials in the concerned districts. The Kendra will also pursue unresolved matters to ensure their timely resolution. It will maintain a performance dashboard for easy tracking and follow-up, and submit quarterly performance reports to the Lieutenant Governor in prescribed formats. The operational protocol for the Kendra has been unveiled, and the government has nominated officials to oversee its implementation. According to the order issued by the General Administration Department, Prasana Ramaswamy (Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department), Aflaq Ahmed (Under Secretary, Revenue Department), and Abhimanyu Singh (Manager-cum-Protocol Officer, Resident Commission, J&K Government, New Delhi) have been nominated for its operationalization—(KNO)
